Sapele Shaker Galley Kitchen

This African Mahogany or Sapele kitchen is located in the historic Proctor district in Tacoma, Washington. It was designed for a home built in 1913 and is a great example of a traditional galley kitchen. This home was remolded, down to the studs and joists, and was certainly a challenge, to say the least.

When it came time to install the kitchen, we started by setting the bases then placed the cabinet boxes. By the next day the boxes were no longer level. We were not sure what happened in the hours in between, but something settled and moved causing us to have to re-set the lower boxes. The doors have a simple cove routed into it that brings a unique feature and puts a fun spin on a traditional shaker face-framed kitchen look.
